Gateways over IP

Until recently most  video transport streams were based on legacy network technologies like ATM or SDH/SONET. Today the QoS offered by Ethernet/IP (Fast-Ethernet and GbE) networks is suitable for transporting Live Video streams.

The transport of DVB-ASI (compressed SD-SDI and HD-SDI video streams) over IP is totally reliable  because transmission integrity is   assured by Forward Error Correction engines (standard as ProMPEG CoP3) or enhanced FEC (proprietary). Controlware has firsthand experience of these technologies having run DVB-T/DVB-H services over intercontinental connections during deployment trials with SFN and MFN. DVB-C is very well served with gateway for video on demand delivering the capability of receiving  hundreds of programs from distributed VOD servers and multiplexing them (by choice)  to the  QAM.
